Our Story
We are Hillary and Anthony Yount. When we started working in Paso Robles 20 years ago, white wines were an afterthought for most wineries. Something they produced in tiny quantities for the few tasters who didn’t want the robust reds the region was quickly becoming known for. Given our proliferation of Calcareous soils, cool overnight low temperatures, and impossibly steep hillsides, it seemed to us that white wines should be Paso’s flagship.
Inspired by regions that share many of those same qualities — Chablis, Wachau, and Chateauneuf du Pape — we sought out exceptional sites farmed by incredible stewards to launch Kinero Cellars in 2008.
Since then, we’ve slowly built a portfolio of vineyards that will make you rethink what you know about California wines. By combining long-term partnerships with generational winegrowers, vineyard-first winemaking, and a whole lot of elbow grease, we produce singular wines of elegance, purity, and energy.
Hillary
A fourth-generation California wine grape grower, farming grapes is literally in Hillary’s blood. She spent the first decade of her career scouting, developing, and managing some of the most sought-after vineyards on the Central Coast. Today, she’s hyper-focused on the Royal Nonesuch Farm and Bassetti Vineyards...as well as wrangling their two daughters and deciding what critter to add on the farm next.
Anthony
Anthony’s expertise spans vineyard management, producing award-winning wines, and launching new brands. Anthony is the consulting winemaker for Denner (Paso), Sixmilebridge (Paso), Riise (Paso), Atlas Lake (Napa/Solano), and Cimento (The Rocks/Walla Walla) and has helped craft more 95+ point wines than he cares to count, but is still seeking triple digits. His primary focus these days is on Kinero and Royal Nonesuch Farm...as well as worshipping his wife and daughters and keeping the pigs out of the garden.
